I thought it would be fun to do an end of the semester wrap-up that features my top 10 moments from Fall 2013. This semester has flown by, and we've managed to squeeze in so many fun, exciting activities while taking a million or so pictures in the process!
Here we go!

Early in the semester we made fruit salad- everyone had a blast smelling and tasting the fruit. It was a really functional activity that ended up being number 10 on my list! Check out the full post here.

This year we dove into technology! We've loved using our classroom iPads to access our curriculum. For an example of how we integrate iPads into our whole group lessons, click here.

For the first time, the Lifeskills program at our school has been responsible for running the school store in the morning before school. Our 8th grade peers take turns helping out- it's an incredible vocational opportunity for our kids! For more information on our vocational program, click here.

Our annual trip to the pumpkin patch took place on a PERFECT fall day. We loved every minute of our trip from participating in a scavenger hunt to making a purchase in the store. We even had the opportunity to ride the wagon around the orchard! For the full post, click here.

Our local Subway opened its doors to our group, allowing each student to order using a picture menu, wrap his or her own sandwich and pay for lunch. We had the best time seeing what it would be like to work at Subway! Check out the full post here.

Pumpkin carving day is always an adventure in Lifeskills! We had a wonderful (most of us, anyway!) designing the perfect pumpkin face, digging into the gooey pumpkin guts and carving our giant pumpkin. Check out the full post here.

Our class was thrilled to participate in "We are the Majority", an anti-bullying campaign that encourages kids to step up and stomp out bullying. Our kids loved participating in this all-school initiative. Check out the full post here.

We have a strong sense of community and teamwork in Lifeskills- nothing makes me happier than catching one of those moments on film. The kiddos below are brothers- the younger brother is pictured here helping his big brother say the date. Love it. Love them.

I am so happy that the group of kids I have this year truly enjoys each other's company. Here we are on a bowling trip. We have such a great time when we're out in the community, and it shows!

My hands-down favorite moment of the year was when our class joined our general education team for an activity on plant cells. This activity exemplified everything we strive for in lifeskills. A sense of community, independence, accessibility and joy. Our Unique Learning Systems curriculum gave us the tools to engage in this lesson at our own pace while being part of a grade level team. Awesome doesn't even begin to cover it.

I've got a couple more blog posts up my sleeve before Winter Break, so stay tuned!
