Last Friday's post was all about the process leading up to the actual pumpkin carving event. Today, I'm excited to share all of the pictures we took capturing all of the fun we had digging into our messy, gooey pumpkin.
After voting on different options for facial features, our class decided on the face below for our class pumpkin:
First we drew the face with a marker, then we drew a circle around the top of the pumpkin and began to cut...
After opening up our pumpkin, we began removing the 'guts'.
Some friends loved every second of the cool, goopy mess...
Others were completely and utterly appalled did not!
Once we were sure that our pumpkin was clean on the inside, we used hand-over-hand prompting to cut out the different shapes.
Everyone took a turn- the kids were very conscientious!
The kids especially enjoyed pushing the cut pieces out of the pumpkin and dumping them into our garbage bowl.
Everyone had a blast with this activity!
Here's our perfect pumpkin:
I love when we can find an activity that involves just about EVERYTHING
we work on in Lifeskills from talking about where a pumpkin grows (and
visiting the pumpkin patch) to getting our hands dirty with some good
old sensory and fine motor work by carving our very own pumpkin.
