The end of the year in Lifeskills is incredibly busy but filled with fun events! This week we threw a Peer Appreciation Party for the wonderful students who spend time with us each day helping our class with jobs, academic work and leisure activities.
To thank our awesome peers for all of their help, we spent part of the morning making strawberry shortcake to serve at the party.
We are VERY good about washing our hands before cooking!
We gathered all of our ingredients...
and started making a
strawberry sauce (from scratch!).
We followed the recipe,
adding butter, flour, sugar,
salt, baking soda, baking powder and vanilla.
Next we added sour cream (but not before we passed it around the table to talk about how it looks and smells!).
We got our hands dirty
mixing up our shortcakes!
It was an awesome sensory experience!
Stay tuned for our next post about our peer party and the delicious treats our class served the peers...
