Here we are writing our sight words (thanks, ULS!) on our classroom TapIt. The kids are always really engaged when we bring out the TapIt to enhance our lessons.
Towards the end of last week our school district hosted a fundraiser basketball game pitting staff against the Harlem Wizards. We were lucky enough to rub knees elbows with one of the players during lunch, and he was great about posing for pics with our group. Fun!
We have also run the gamut of weather conditions in Indiana this week. We started the week under a deep blanket of snow which has quickly melted as temperatures rose into the 50s. Along with the rising temperatures came a wicked wind and quite a bit of rain. Because tornadoes do occur from time to time here, we took a few minutes to practice our tornado drill response. We used our Unique Learning System materials and did some demonstrations with peers.
One of our sweet friends did a great job updating our classroom calendar. All of a sudden my students are all taller than me. Yikes.
We're also working on posters to share at our general education team's Geo Fair taking place next week. We've been studying Canada and Mexico this month, so we will be focusing on the geography, climate and animals of both regions. Can't wait to share more soon!
One of my favorite moments from this week was caught on tape (yes, ISTAR, we're coming for you!). Here is one of my awesome students showing off a newly acquired skill: double digit calculator addition and subtraction. I just love the look on her face when she takes the marker to write her answer. WOOHOO!
HAPPY FRIDAY!
