Let It Grow!

Last year our school was awarded a grant to create a garden. If you've been our friend for awhile, you may have read about how my class participated in the first steps of creating our school garden back in November. Here's the blog post. Now that the temperatures are warming up, and Spring has officially sprung, it is time to get back into gardening. We joined in with our team science classes and went to work preparing the garden plots for planting.

While looking for fun quotes about gardening, I came across this little gem and had to share:
Our awesome 6th grade peers came with us, and we joined in with our 7th grade teammates who were already hard at work prepping the soil.
The weather was perfect, and the kids did a great job turning over the soil in each bed.
Our favorite thing in the world is finding activities that are hands-on and involve our peers. This garden project has been a fun way for us to practice functional skills (social, motor, etc.) while hanging out in the bright sunshine!
And of course we had to squeeze in some silliness!
Here's a bigger picture of our classes hard at work.
When we wrapped things up and headed for the buses, my sweet student and I had time to pose for a picture together. I love this kid!
Hopefully we'll have many more nice days spent in our garden this semester!

HAPPY FRIDAY!
