It's a blustery November morning here in Indiana, so I thought I would do a little post from earlier this year on one of our last warm, summery days. Several of our teachers received a grant to start a school garden this year. The general education team we're aligned with invited us to help set up the plots. It was a wonderful team-building experience, and my kids loved every minute!
The first thing we did was line the beds with newspaper.
The kids really had to work to keep the paper from blowing away!
This was a team effort, so there were a LOT of kids helping. It was great to see how much fun everyone had working as a team.
Our 6th grade peer facilitators did an awesome job helping us spread the dirt across each bed. They were thrilled that this project fell during their class period!
It's was a beautiful day to get out and do some gardening! We got to practice our communication, social and gross motor skills while helping to build a sense of community in our school.
We can't wait to get planting in the spring!
