Getting the Word Out: Our Monthly Classroom Calendar

If it wasn't abundantly clear from our insert shameless plugs here blog, Twitter account (@LFromLifeskills), classroom website and all of my Facebook posts, we like to share what we're doing in the classroom with anyone who will listen or read or tweet or Facebook! To help spread information about what's going on in our world, each month our class makes a monthly calendar that is sent home to parents and passed out to staff in the building. Here's what it looks like when we put it together:

We've started using our TapIt (think giant iPad) to select pictures for the calendar.

Everyone loves taking turns going up to the TapIt and finding different dates and activities.
The TapIt is often glitchy, but when it's working we love using it!
When we're finished with our calendar, we pass it out to staff in our building. Here's one of my students with our principal, Mrs. S. This is a great opportunity for us to practice our social skills and get to know adults around the building!
Mrs. N. and Officer S. love receiving our monthly calendar -
we love stopping by their offices!
The kids really look forward to this activity; they especially like being able to choose all of the pictures that will appear on the calendar. Nothing better than sharing all of the fun things going on in our world!
