Last Friday, our class went on a community-based instruction trip to Petsmart. This was a highly anticipated trip for the whole group - who doesn't love getting to see all of the different animals?! Our mission was to find different items around the store before getting to spend some time checking out the pets.
Our scavenger hunt required students to pair up and find different items needed to care for household pets including shampoo, food and toys. When unable to find a specific item on the list, students were encouraged to ask an adult for help.
Here we are with our clipboards getting ready to scour the store!
On a mission to find pet supplies!
Doing a great job marking down each item on our scavenger hunt worksheet.
Finally free to check out the pets!
The store had a lot of very cute kittens. They were a big hit!
The highlight of our trip was getting to see our old friend, L, who came to meet us. L was a peer in our classroom when she was an eighth grader last year. Simply put, SHE ROCKS. Our kids were thrilled to see her again and even snuck in some time at the end of the trip to do a little drawing activity outside the store.
I am so proud that L wants to come back and spend time with my gang- we are so lucky to have her as part of our Lifeskills family!
HAPPY FRIDAY!
