Rock Star Therapy

I had a few ideas in mind for today's blog post, but I just had to share a few quick pictures and a little story from Friday...

My student's bus was late.
He was understandably less than thrilled.

Occupational therapist to the rescue!
We were waiting for the bus.
She was walking in from the parking lot.
Surprise therapy session!
 Totally into writing his letters!
Check out the tiny stylus :)
Our therapists are WONDERFUL. We are very blessed to have a speech language pathologist and occupational therapist who truly love what they do.

I say it all the time, and I'll say it again here: to me there is nothing more effective for my group than having our therapists IN our environment, whether it be the classroom, the kitchen or out in the community. My staff (myself included) learns so much from in vivo (in the environment) therapy, and the therapy is so much more functional for my group when it happens during the course of their day.

Once upon a time I worked with a speech pathologist who did therapy on the fly in a swimming pool with her suit pants rolled up past her knees...now THAT'S dedication (and one of my FAVORITE school memories!).

In short, our therapists are ROCK STARS.
